Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum

With 24,000 artifacts and 12 historic buildings, this national treasure showcases the most comprehensive collection of Norwegian-American artifacts in the world. Step inside the Main Building, an historical hotel with four floors, to discover stories of courage and beauty.

You’ll find a cabin made from a single tree, elaborate costumes, intricately carved butter molds, colorful paintings, silver wedding crowns, woven tapestries, and even a boat that sailed the Atlantic Ocean. You won’t believe what’s here! “USA Today” named Vesterheim one of “ten great places in the nation to admire American folk art.”

Vesterheim is also a heritage center, offering folk-art classes, children’s programs, special events, tours to Norway, and a Museum Store.

The museum is open daily all year. May 1-October 31: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and November 1-April 30: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check vesterheim.org for information about annual festivals, group tours, and rotating exhibitions.
