Rutherford B Hayes Presidential Center

The Hayes Presidential Center, at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues in Fremont, Ohio, is site of the nation’s FIRST presidential library (opened to the public in 1916). The Center pays tribute to 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes. Visitors can tour the president’s 25 acre wooded estate called Spiegel Grove, his newly restored 31 room brick mansion filled with original furnishings, the three-story Hayes Museum & Library, and the President’s and First Lady Lucy Hayes’ burial site. Presidential history even is on display at the entrance, where guests drive through the original White House gates.
