Porter County Museum

The Porter County Museum was founded in 1916 as a part of Indiana’s centennial celebration to share and perpetuate the stories of the residents of Porter County. Today the museum engages those rich stories of Porter County’s past with its evolving present to educate, enrich, and inspire its communities. The collection is divided into four categories composed of donations and loans made by residents both past and present. The Permanent Collection includes accessioned artifacts of museum quality. The Hands – On Collection serves as a resource for education, research, and publication opportunities related to the history and culture of Porter County. The Educational Program Collection includes materials used for educational purposes only. The Loaned Collection includes artifacts on loan from other museums, institutions, and private sources.

Hours of operation are Wed-Sat 9a-5p.
