Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics

The Dole Institute is located on the West Campus of the University of Kansas. Visitors can experience Bob Dole’s personal life and political career through a variety of exhibits and personal artifacts. The institute also regularly hosts rotating special exhibits, including original displays using its archival collection. The building features stunning stained glass windows of the American flag and Bob Dole’s hometown of Russell, Kansas, a moving wall collage of Kansas World war II veterans and a unique September 11th memorial.

The Dole Institute promotes political and civic participation through a variety of public programs. These programs provide a forum to discuss contemporary issues, encourage public service and explore historical perspectives. The Dole Institute is home to the Robert and Elizabeth Dole Archive and Special Collections, one of the largest non-presidential political collections in the nation. The nationally recognized research archive contains the complete records of both Sen. Bob Dole and Sen. Elizabeth Dole’s careers. Accessible documents include legislative files, speeches, campaign papers and briefing books, and extensive memorabilia.
