Museum of Danish America

Founded in 1983, the Museum of Danish America is the only national museum dedicated to preserving and promoting Danish culture in America. The museum cares for a collection of nearly 40,000 artifacts, photographs, and archival materials that document the experience of Danish immigrants and their descendants, and the ongoing expression of Danish-American cultural identity. We have 3 floors of exhibit space, including a LEGO play area – fun for all ages! Our carefully curated Design Store carries contemporary Scandinavian and American design. Admission includes the museum, Jens Dixen Cabin, Jens Jensen Prairie Landscape Park, Walking Trail, Bedstemor’s House (a restored Victorian Grandmother’s home open Memorial Day to Labor Day) and the museum’s Genealogy Center.
