New Castle Historical Society Historic Houses

The collections of the New Castle Historical Society include historic artifacts and archives related to the City of New Castle, Delaware, Many of the artifacts are on exhibit in the Society's two house museums - the Amstel House & Gardens and the Dutch House & Gardens. The Society also curates temporary exhibits with objects from its collection most recently in the Old Library Museum. Recent exhibition topics included women's fashion, New Castle taverns, the impact of the Civil War on the community, and New Castle weddings. The Society is known for its textile collection and collection of 18th century furniture, especially furniture made in the Delaware Valley.

Hours: Wed - Sat, 10 am to 4 pm; Sun, Noon to 4 pm. A visitor center and museum store is available.
