Aurora Historical Society- Tanner House Museum

The Aurora Historical Society gives the past a future by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and presenting the rich and diverse history of Aurora and the surrounding area.
In accordance to this mission, the Tanner House Museum gives visitors a glimpse into what life was like for Victorian Auroran, through the story of William Tanner, his wife Anna, and their home. Built in 1857, this Italianate style house is decorated to 1890s tastes and features high ceilings, oak grained woodwork, and ornate plaster work. The family owned the home until 1936, when it was donated to the Aurora Historical Society. In 1976, the house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
